This is our piece: Together We Can Make a Difference. Mission Statement:
The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Warren & Clinton Counties is working to prevent suicide by mobilizing the community through education and awareness. The coalition is composed of a variety of community members including suicide survivors and individuals from social service agencies, governmental entities, law enforcement, and interested citizens.  Membership is open and others are encouraged to join at any time!
The expected outcomes of the coalition are to:

  1. Enhance awareness:
    • Promote awareness that suicide is a public health and social ecological problem that is preventable
    • Develop broad-based support for suicide prevention
  2. Increase education:
    • Develop and implement community prevention programs
    • Improve reporting and portrayals of suicidal behavior, mental illness, and substance abuse in the news media.
  3. Decrease suicide rates (deaths and attempts):
    • Promote efforts to reduce access to lethal means and methods of self-harm
    • Implement training for recognition of at-risk behavior and delivery of effective treatment
  4. Increase early intervention:
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce the stigma associated with being a consumer of mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention services
    • Improve access to and community linkages with mental health and substance abuse services
  5. Identify grant opportunities for prevention:  Solicit grants and other funding in order to carry out functions of the coalition
  6. Support survivors of suicide
